I am delighted that The Bangles are still all over the place. If you listen to the radio long enough, or if you spend enough time in a public space, then you will inevitably hear “Manic Monday” or “Eternal Flame” or “Walk Like An Egyptian.” This is right and good, as the band delivered an especially delicious version of garage rock with California-in-the-sixties accents. They made music to make us feel good, to make us feel like we’re singing harmonies while riding in the back of a convertible.
